About counting words in the browser

Word Count is a live tally of words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, and lines for a draft you paste in this tab. Totals update as you type — there is no Run button. The character total includes spaces; a second card shows the count without spaces. Reading time assumes about 200 words per minute and speaking time about 130, which are typical adult averages, not a promise for your audience or a TTS engine. Use it when a form has a limit, when a brief asks for a word budget, or when you want a speaking-time estimate before a meeting.

It is not a grammar checker, plagiarism detector, or SEO keyword tool. Text without spaces (some CJK) may under-count words because we split on Unicode word boundaries the browser exposes. Markdown punctuation still counts as characters. Empty input yields zeros, not an error. Nothing is uploaded: we do not persist this field across visits so a leftover confidential paragraph does not reappear. Close the tab to drop the draft.
