Privacy Policy

Overview

Toolora (usetoolora.com) provides browser-based developer utilities on the website and in the Toolora Chrome extension. Most tools run entirely on your device. This policy explains what we collect, what we do not collect, and how optional account features work.

Who we are

Toolora is operated from the website at https://usetoolora.com. For privacy questions, email [email protected] or use the contact page.

Client-side tools (website and extension)

Published Toolora utilities — including JSON, JWT, encoding, text, Markdown, password, and similar tools — process your input in the browser. We do not upload the text you paste into those tools to Toolora servers. Generated passwords, decoded tokens, and similar results stay on your device unless you copy them elsewhere yourself.

Chrome extension

The Toolora extension runs the same client-side tools in a popup. If you right-click selected text, the selection is held briefly in the browser’s session storage so the popup can run a tool. That text is not sent to Toolora servers. The extension uses storage only for this short-lived handoff and does not require access to the contents of every website you visit. See the Chrome extension page or install it from the Chrome Web Store. Links such as “Open site” or “Full tool” take you to https://usetoolora.com, which is covered by this policy.

Information we collect

When you use tools without signing in: we do not receive your tool input. Your browser may store a theme preference and a short list of recently opened tool names in local storage on your device.

When you sign in with Google: we receive the account details Google provides for sign-in (typically email address, display name, profile photo, and a provider user ID). We create a Toolora account and set an httpOnly session cookie so you stay signed in.

When you are signed in and run a tool on the website: we may record usage history — which tool you ran, when, and summary metadata (for example the tool UI type). We do not store the payload you pasted. You can turn history off in the dashboard. Free accounts keep history for 30 days.

Favorites: if you star a tool while signed in, we store that preference on your account.

Contact: if you email us or submit the contact form, we receive the name, email, subject, and message you send so we can reply. By default the site opens your email app (mailto) rather than uploading the form to our API.

Cookies and local storage

Signed-in sessions use a Toolora session cookie that is httpOnly (not readable by page JavaScript). Theme and recent-tool lists are stored locally in your browser. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad networks.

How we use information

We use account and usage data to operate sign-in, show your dashboard (favorites and history), remember settings, improve the product with aggregate admin analytics (for example how many users signed up or which tools were run), and respond to support messages. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your tool input to train models or serve ads.

Service providers

We use Google Firebase Authentication for Google sign-in, and Google infrastructure to host the website and API. Those providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We do not share tool payloads with them because those payloads are not sent to us.

Retention

Session cookies last for the signed-in session period. Tool history for free accounts is retained for 30 days, then removed. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle your request. Local storage stays on your device until you clear site data. Extension session storage is cleared when the browser session ends or after the popup reads the pending text.

Your choices

You can use every published tool without an account. You can switch theme, clear site data, turn off usage history in the dashboard, sign out, or stop using the extension. To update your display name, use the dashboard. To delete your Toolora account or ask what we hold, email [email protected].

Children

Toolora is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes (for example if we add paid billing). The date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
